Brand Marketing
Duvel is being brewed by the fourth generation of the Moortgat family. Even though Duvel is a Belgian beer, the founder was inspired by English ales. Albert Moortgat himself selected a specific Scottish yeast strain, which is still used today.
The refermentation in the bottle and a long maturation, guarantees a pure character, delicate effervescence and a pleasant sweet taste of alcohol. First barley is germinated for five days, which turns it into malt. Then 2 qualitative hops are added. Duvel has a first fermentation and maturation in storage tanks. After bottling the beer undergoes a second fermentation thanks to the added sugars and yeast. The second maturing in bottle, stabilizes that iconic Duvel taste. The high alcohol content (8.5%), dry feel and fine effervescence make Duvel a special Belgian beer that stands out in a crowd.
The long maturation and qualitative craftmanship make this beer slow brewed to perfection.

Taste “The Original”
Duvel has fruity touches with a subtle hopped aroma, a slightly bitter aftertaste and dry finish. The typical bitterness is obtained by adding a variety of aromatic Saaz-Saaz & Styrian Golding hops.
Duvel is best served at a temperature of 5°C. To bring out the full aromas, Duvel should be poured at an angle of 45° in the iconic Tulip glass. The foam preferably starts in the middle of the red D and fills the glass, stopping at 1cm from the top.

Food recommendations:
This strong Belgian specialty beer pairs well with many Flemish classics such as steak, fries and asparagus. Other fine combinations are chicory, mussels, lobster, fillet of pork, veal, exotic and slightly seasoned dishes, béarnaise sauces and flavourings such as ginger. Duvel also matches really well with many hard cheeses such as Red Leicester and cheddars.
